With dynamic backgrounds and a HD resolution of 1080p, this is the crispest, brightest, most stunningly beautiful version of Worms ever seen. 2D landscapes are surrounded by deadly masses of water, with the various weapons at your disposal constantly chipping away at the safety of land. The fun factor of the franchise hasn’t diminished in the slightest over the years.įorgetting Worms 3D (1999) entirely, Worms 2: Armageddon returns to where the series was always at its strongest visually. There is just an undeniable charm to naming these little fellas, putting silly hats upon their heads, giving them even sillier accents, and then letting them rip against another team of similarly silly, floppy fighters. It isn’t that the customisation is extensive (it isn’t) or that it even makes a difference to gameplay (it doesn’t). You also have complete control over many gameplay functions like the amount of energy restored to injured worms, booby-traps, enabling secret weapons, stockpiling limits, terrain variations and graphic representations, types of water and landscape and more. Other features include adjustable power settings for land mines, number of mines, a mine explosion delay factor, time allowed for retreat, user choice of which worm to use during the game, amount of damage incurred by a falling worm and placement of girder sections (bridges) on the landscape. The game contains many customizable options such as time limits for each turn and round, number of worms per team (1-8), rounds per game (1-9), strength of the worms (impacts on game length), wind intensity, in-game surface friction and weapons available per game. Additionally, Worms 2 comes with new editor programs including speech, weapon and landscape modules which guarantees no two games should ever be alike. The game creates randomly generated landscapes each time a new game is started, thus providing unlimited replay value. Over a LAN or the Internet, a total of six players can "slime" it out with Worms 2. In hot-seat mode, the game can be played with as many as 18 players. ![]()
